Asthma - for chronic asthma a LABA should always be prescribed with an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) when an ICS alone is not sufficient. LABA should not replace ICS. Salmeterol cannot  be used as a relief medication but formoterol can be used for the relief of acute symptoms. Review regularly and step down/discontinue when appropriate.
