Drug Safety Update

November 2020: Modafinil (Provigil): increased risk of congenital malformations if used during pregnancy

 Drugs used in the treatment of narcolepsy include dexamfetamine and methyphenindate. Treatment choice would be led by a specialist.

Solriamfetol can only be prescribed at a tertiary specialist centre with expertise in treating narcolepsy and in accordance with the NICE guidance below.

Also approved for the treatment of fatigue in multiple sclerosis (off-label use).
