CAUTION
Some of the generic brands of desogestrel contain peanut or soyabean oil. Remember to check patient’s allergy status and confirm the brand of the oral contraceptive if needed.
Feanolla®, Lovima® and Moonia® tablets are examples that are contra-indicated in patients with hypersensitivity or allergy to peanuts or soya
Risk of hyperkalaemia with this drug - see SPC for further information & recommended monitoring.
Caution with drug name, may sound similar to other drugs - double check.
An option due to its 24-hour missed pill window and reduced level of unpredictable bleeding for some women.
