NICE Guidance

 CG30: Long-acting reversible contraception, updated July 2019

The intra-uterine device (IUD) is a suitable contraceptive for women of all ages irrespective of parity; however it is less appropriate for those with an increased risk of pelvic inflammatory disease. The doctor or nurse administering or removing the system must be fully trained and provide full counselling including where available an information leaflet.
