Prescribing Notes
Budesonide rectal foam enemas are the preferred, most cost-effective rectal option
Budesonide CR is less effective than conventional corticosteroids but may have fewer side effects.
Budesonide CR or Beclometasone Dipropionate MR (Clipper®) have been agreed for use as “specialist initiation”. They must only be initiated using the locally agreed prescribing pathways which have been developed with specialist guidance.
