  January 2008: Statin interactions and updated advice for atorvastatin

  February 2008: Statins - additional side effects including depression, sleep disturbance, memory loss, interstitial lung disease, and sexual dysfunction

 May 2010: Simvastatin increased risk of myopathy at high doses (80mg)

  December 2010: Fibrates first line treatment not recommended except for those with severe hypertriglyceridaemia

Colestyramine is an anion exchange resin and interferes with the absorption of other drugs. Other drugs should be taken at least 1 hour (ezetimibe 2 hours) before or 4-6 hours after taking colestyramine.

Ezetimibe is only indicated for the treatment of primary heterozygous (familial and non-familial) hypercholesterolaemia where statins are contraindicated or not tolerated. Ezetimibe may be co-adminstered with a statin where response has not been adequate or increased doses of statin have not been tolerated.
